Email Upgrade March 14, 2017

The email upgrade will start on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 10:00 p.m. EST and is expected to finish on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at approximately 6 a.m. EST. You will be able to send and receive emails during this conversion time, but may not have access to your prior emails until they transfer to the new system.

Webmail Users

  • When entering your username, be sure to use your FULL email address.
  • New Emails will appear instantly, your saved emails may not be available for several hours during the upgrade process.

POP3 and IMAP Users

Email applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and Android Mail can all be configured with our new email system, as either a POP3 or IMAP client. Here are the recommended settings to use in your email client.

Incoming Mail Server Settings
  • Incoming Mail Server - mail.midtel.net
  • Incoming Server Port POP3 - 995
  • Incoming Server Port IMAP - 993
  • Incoming Server Security - SSL Enabled
  • Authentication - username MUST be your full email address
Outgoing Mail Server Settings
  • Outgoing Mail Server - mail.midtel.net
  • Outgoing Server Port - 587
  • Outgoing Server Security - SSL Enabled
  • SMTP Authentication Must be Enabled
  • Authentication - username MUST be your full email address

If your email client does not work after the upgrade, please refer to the client specific setup information below.

Additional Information Regarding Upgrade

  • Email Accounts are limited to sending 500 messages per day
  • There is no limit on the number of recipients to an individual messages
  • Message attachments are limited to 25MB in size
  • Spam Filtering is on by default. Login to webmail to review your spam folder
  • Password changes, Email Forwarding, Vacation/Out of Office Auto-responders and Anti-Spam settings are now conveniently located in Webmail

MIDTEL Wins Additional $6.8M With Second Rural Broadband Grant Award

MIDTEL has received a second grant award of $6.8M from the New NY Broadband Grant Program. This grant will bring fiber optic based broadband services with up to 1Gbps in speed to nearly 1600 additional homes and businesses in the towns of Blenheim, Broome, Carlisle, Cobleskill, Conesville, Fulton, Gilboa, Jefferson, Middleburgh, Richmondville, Schoharie, Summit and Wright. Combined with MIDTEL’s private investment, this project totals $8.5M in infrastructure improvements. In total between MIDTEL’s two grant projects, over $15.5M will be invested in fiber optic infrastructure in Schoharie County.

Area Code Overlay Approved for the New York 518 Area Code

To ensure a continuing supply of telephone numbers, the new 838 area code will be added to the area served by 518. This is known as an area code overlay. Get ready to change the way you dial your calls made within the 518 area code!
