MIDTEL CABLE TV, Inc., a subsidiary of The Middleburgh Telephone Company , formed in June of 1994 with the goal of providing quality cable television service at an affordable price. MIDTEL CABLE TV's system officially became operational in November 1995.
The first phase of MIDTEL CABLE TV's project, completed in October 1995, includes 55 miles of broadband coaxial plant and passes over 1,200 homes. Service is offered in parts of the towns of Blenheim, Broome, Fulton, Middleburgh, and Summit, along with parts of the Village of Middleburgh. Upon completion of its second phase, the entire Village of Middleburgh and Schoharie are now covered, along with a majority of the Town of Schoharie. With completion of this phase in November 1996, MIDTEL CABLE TV's service area now covers over 100 miles and passes over 2,200 homes.
MIDTEL CABLE TV's satellite head-end is in Middleburgh, NY and can be seen on Route 30 between Middleburgh and Schoharie. MIDTEL CABLE TV's plant uses both fiber optic and coaxial cable. The system is constructed at 750MHz, allowing it to carry over 110 analog channels, or 83 analog channels and over 300 digital channels.
In 2007 MIDTEL CABLE TV began the construction of a fully digital television head end utilizing technologies from Motorola, Aptiv Digital, and Tut Systems. This investment will bring a full suite of digital television services to our customers. Look out for information regarding the launch of these services.
