Ministry of Prayer
Members and guests of Bethany Ministries engage in Prayer, gathering to pray from the Scriptures, seeking healing and spiritual growth through shared prayer and centering prayer together, and praying in solitude in their rooms/homes or with the beauty of creation.
The Eucharist is celebrated with local parish communities, at one of the member’s homes, or outdoors in good weather.
Our Goal is to live the ministry of Prayer both in solitude and with others, by:
- Taking time to pray in solitude and by calling one another to that kind of prayer.
- Praying with persons and communities from other Christian traditions and other world religions.
- Praying for peace, justice and the integrity of creation in a focused and intentional manner.
- Praying directly for healing of individuals, families and institutions both in the context of contemplative hospitality and of missions and retreats.
- Sponsoring or supporting a meditation and sharing group based on the 11th step of AA.
- Celebrating the Eucharist, the Liturgy of the Hours and the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing with each other, guests and local residents, when appropriate.
- Engaging in centering prayer and other creative forms of contemplative prayer.
