IMAGINEE Drawing Board :: Previous drawing boards: Page 8 | Page 7 | No Idea - wip | Page 6 | Page 5 | Page 4 | Page 3 | Page 2 | Page 1 I worked on this 18 x 24 inch portrait from 9-6-07 to 10-24-07. The young man was the drummer of the band Bipolar. His dad wanted not only a portrait of his son but also to have him playing the drums so I put a couple of photo's together and came up with this look. I used a 3b mech, B, 3b wood pencil, some tissue and blending sticks. The drums took a lot of time and patience to draw, but I was pleased with the outcome. Adorable Baby Kaia is on my drawing board (3-23-07). I love to draw children and especially babies so this commission shall be very enjoyable. I plan to take it very slow and draw as much detail as my pencils will allow. :) The portrait is 11 x 14 inches and I'm working on smooth Bristol, I'm using a 3b mech pencil and a blending stump. So far it's coming along very well, the only problem I'm having is not wanting to stop work on it.:). I'm using the 3b mech. for all the details and a small blending stump for the skin tones. I reworked the eye to get it just right, if the eyes are not perfect then I won't be happy with the outcome. The nose and mouth are almost finished, I used the 3b mech, H and a blending stump for both and for the skin tones H and the stump. I began work on the hair, I've put down 2 layers of 3b, will continue to map the hair out as I go along. The background was done with a little B and a large blending stump. The hair is not as easy as I thought so it wil be reworked a few more times. I have been using the 3b mech some H, and a large blending stick. I've just began the shirt and will take some time to get all the details just so. I tend to work about an inch an hour and then go back over areas to fine tune. I decided to lighten and fade the small foot in the background so not to distract the eye from the babies face. I have been working on the arm and hand, I put down a few light layers of B blending in-between layers a little with tissue, I'm still using a 3b mech for all the details and some shadows. The portrait was finished as of 4-5-07, it was a pleasure to draw such an adorable baby! I put in 60 hrs and feel this is one of my best works so far. Thanks for checking in and take care ~Linda
A cute kitty cat was on my drawing board from 3-4-07 to 3-17-07, this one took longer due to not being home and not having time to work on it each day. Drawing the whiskers were very difficult, I used negative drawing, this is done by leaving the white of the paper behind and drawing the darker tones around the area. I used a mech 3b, and H graphite pencils also a little blending was done with a stump and tissue. Thanks for looking.
